Flying Saucer Restaurant Burger Review – Niagara Falls, ON
The Flying Saucer on Lundy's Lane in Niagara Falls is famous for its look and its breakfast, but they serve burgers too, so I stopped in for a Gold Medal Burger. It scored a 5.3, landing at #126 out of 140 on my Gold Medal Burger rankings.
My order
Lettuce, onion and pickle only, as always. The price was a very reasonable $6.75. The burger came in a plastic bag inside a sealed container that took me a moment to pry open. I liked it. Efficient packaging.
What's inside
A good-sized burger on a bun, a little light on the lettuce, a bit of onion on the bottom and some pickles. It's a bear claw style burger. It smelled good and felt heavy in my hand. One bite, everybody knows the rules.
First bite
Up to this point, the quest had been running into a lot of dry burgers. This one was not dry. It was juicy! My guess is it's a frozen patty, and it didn't taste fresh, but it was juicy and it didn't taste like it had been sitting in a freezer for a year either.
The breakdown
- Bun: A standard bun that held everything together.
- Patty: Most likely frozen, but juicy, which set it apart from the dry burgers on the quest so far.
- Toppings: Light on the lettuce, a little onion and plenty of pickles.
- Packaging: Bagged and boxed in a sealed container.
- Value: $6.75 is a fair price.
My verdict
The Flying Saucer burger sits right in my "not bad, not great" zone. It doesn't taste like a fresh patty, but it's juicy, and that puts it ahead of a lot of the dry burgers I was eating around this point in the quest. It's a 5.3. If you're on Lundy's Lane, go for the experience and the breakfast, and treat the burger as a fair-priced extra.
