Brewins Pub Burger Review – Niagara Falls, ON
Brewins Sports Bar and Eatery on Drummond Road in Niagara Falls was full of good people the day I stopped in, including one fan and possibly a new one. I had only been here once before, years ago, for lunch with my brother. This time the Gold Medal Burger scores a 7.9, #53 out of 140 on my rankings.
My order
Lettuce, onion and pickle only, no cheese, for $12.15. It came open faced, and I could tell right away it was a homemade burger. Red onion, vertically sliced pickles and leaf lettuce, with a nice looking bun toasted on both sides. Good happenings happening here.
First bite
One bite, everybody knows the rules. Good flavours, and a thick patty. Out here in the Falls, they're not skimpy. I could taste salt and pepper and the meat was seasoned well. It was a cold, windy day, though, and the burger wasn't dripping juices.
Bun to pickle
- Bun: Toasted on both sides and good looking.
- Patty: Thick, homemade and well seasoned with salt and pepper. Moist, not dry, but not juicy.
- Pickles: I liked the amount and the way they were sliced, but not the taste. Definitely not a homemade pickle.
- Toppings: Red onion and leaf lettuce.
- Value: $12.15 for a thick pub burger.
How to make it better
My advice to Brewins: better pickles. Try a whole bunch and see which ones are best. The beef is really good. If it had been a little juicier, it would have been right up there in the eights.
Cold day, warm welcome
It was a cold, blustery afternoon, and I wondered if the weather was part of why the burger wasn't dripping. Inside, though, the room was full of good people, and a busy bar plus a thick homemade burger made a good impression on me.
My verdict
Best burger on the quest? No. A good burger in Niagara Falls? Yes. Brewins earns a 7.9, and I want to come back and try more of the menu, because if the burger is this good, the rest is worth exploring.
