BRGRZ Inc Burger Review – Collingwood, ON
The Gold Medal Burger quest took Robyn and me up to Collingwood for a rainy stop at BRGRZ. The price was right and the bun looked great, but the burger came out wrong in two ways, and that earns a disqualification. BRGRZ goes down as a DQ.
A drive-up review
It was pouring, so we had to improvise on this one. They brought the burger right out to the car, Robyn stayed dry inside, and I hopped out to do the review. From what we could see, BRGRZ is more of a takeout spot, with maybe a couple of little places to sit.
My order
This time I placed the order myself: a hamburger with lettuce, onion and pickle only. The price was $10 flat, and I'll take that. Ten bucks is a good start on the quest, and the presentation was solid too. It came in a paper bag with napkins and ketchup on the side, and the burger itself was in a paper wrap that I liked.
Opening the wrap
At first glance things looked promising. The brioche bun looked like it was toasted on both sides. Then I spotted the toppings: tomato and pickle, and no onion. Robyn asked if I was just going to take the tomato off. Not a chance.
- Bun: Brioche, toasted on both sides by the look of it.
- Toppings: Tomato and pickle, with the onion missing. A double whammy.
- Packaging: Paper bag, paper wrap, napkins and ketchup on the side.
- Value: $10 flat, one of the better prices on the quest.
My verdict
The guy inside seemed nice, and he even walked the burger right out to the car. But a nice guy does not make the Gold Medal Burger. With tomato added and onion left off, there was no bite and no score. I saved myself some calories, stood in the rain for a non-review, and BRGRZ in Collingwood joins the list of DQ burgers on my quest.
