Outback Steakhouse Burger Review – Niagara Falls, ON
Robyn and I headed into the honeymoon capital of the world for a stop at Outback Steakhouse in Niagara Falls, near Dunn Street and Fallsview Boulevard. It set a new record for the most expensive burger on my Gold Medal Burger quest, and I never even got to taste it. Outback goes down as a DQ.
The price
When we picked up the burger, the total was $24.85. I noticed a tourism fee on the bill, the kind collected around Niagara Falls to fund things like fireworks and attractions, which locals can have removed. With that taken off, the price dropped to $22.59. That still made it the new most expensive burger of the quest, and my friends at The Garrison House won't like that, since they held that title.
A word on talking about prices in my reviews. Some people love it, some hate it, but it's what I paid out of my own pocket, so I report it.
The packaging
The burger came in a plastic bag with black packaging and plenty of napkins. As always, the order was a hamburger with lettuce, onion and pickle only.
The reveal
I opened it up, and everyone who follows the quest knew what was coming. The burger wasn't a Gold Medal Burger. One bite, everybody knows the rules, and when it doesn't come as ordered, there's no bite at all.
- Price: $22.59 after the tourism fee was removed, $24.85 before.
- Packaging: Plastic bag, black container, lots of napkins.
- Order: Not made as a Gold Medal Burger.
- Score: None. Disqualified.
My verdict
Outback Steakhouse now holds two distinctions on the quest: the most expensive burger so far and a spot on the short list of DQ burgers. I'll never know what the most expensive burger on the quest tastes like, and that's $22.59 down the drain.
